Training and resources
The Population Geography Research Group aims to facilitate access to research methods, teaching and training materials and useful resources for population geographers
If you have any relevant training material or resources useful to population geographers that you would like us to list here, please get in contact with Pablo Mateos (p.mateos@ucl.ac.uk)
Training
- The National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) forms part of the Economic and Social Research Council’s (ESRC) strategy to improve the standards of research methods across the UK social science community. NCRM provides a focal point for research, training and capacity building activities.
Resources
- Jorum is a JISC-funded Service in Development in UK Further and Higher Education, to collect and share learning and teaching materials, allowing their reuse and repurposing. The database contains vast amounts material, including much which is relevant to population geographers.
- ESDS offers support for the secondary use of data across the research, teaching and learning communities. With a dedicated teaching and resources section of the website, ESDS can help teachers on many aspects of using data resources in lectures and student dissertations, and for self-paced learning.
- The CDU Census Learning and Teaching Materials (formerly the CHCC project) is hosted at the census dissemination unit and provides access to a range of teaching and learning resources based around the UK Census.
Aside from these three major UK teaching resource providers, a list of quantative methods training resources has been compiled for the ESRC by John Macinnes – please use the link to browse the list.
